Hershey Pa. – The Hershey Soccer Club is entering their third season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). The club is proud to announce the hiring of former national team player and central Pennsylvania coaching legend, Garfield DeSilva to lead the team in 2018.
Central PA is a hot bed of soccer, but it is still difficult for many young female athletes to find a competitive level to play in following high school and club. Many of these women move on to play in college, but finding a team or training options in the summer is not as easy task.
Fortunately, with the growth of the women’s game in the US as well as the overwhelming success of the WPSL, Central PA has a great option for athletes to develop their skills. Hershey FC gives college athletes eager to improve and prepare for their college seasons as well as amateur players seeking to reach the professional ranks the opportunity to train and play at a high level all summer long.
Adam Clay, the Hershey Soccer Club Director of Coaching is thrilled to be adding such a quality coach to the WPSL staff. “Garfield is someone that is well known in the area and has the reputation for being a true professional. He has a love of the game that is almost impossible to match and fosters this into his players. He is a tremendous asset to the program and we are very excited to see the direction he takes the team this year.
Hershey FC is holding its first open tryout Thursday December 28th at In the Net from 5:30-8:30pm. Details and registration information is available at www.hersheysoccer.com.
