West Chester controlled play in the first half, scoring the first goal of the when Dan Grindrod found Jacob Kohlbrenner on a corner kick in the fourth minute. West Chester would continue to push the attack, but Hershey’s defense anchored by Christian Schmoyer and Alexander Panuccio would settle in, prevent West Chester from adding another quick goal. West Chester would however break through just before the half when Charles Wilson found Connor Bradley for a well-timed header giving West Chester a 2-0 advantage heading into the half.
Hershey’s coaching staff made several adjustments at the half including inserting a couple of substitutions, which helped them take back control of play. Hershey posed the ball for the majority of the half, taking eight shots in the second half and earning five corner kick. On a counterattack, Hershey’s Christian Coridon got loose behind West Chester’s defense and appeared to poke the ball across into the goal, but a West Chester defender managed to redirect the ball allowing a save to be made. Moments later in the 85th minute, West Chester while on attack drew a foul in a box and Hunter Dyson capitalized on the penalty kick ending any chance of a Hershey rally.
